Share a Cursor project or local app with sign-in

Turn a project that only runs on your laptop into a private link that invited people can open, without adding sign-in to the code.

When this fits

You built something in Cursor, Claude Code or a plain editor. It runs with one command on your machine, and now a colleague or client needs to use it. You do not want it public, and you do not want to add accounts to the app.

Before you start

  • Check the app is a type Stedhold runs: Streamlit, Gradio, FastAPI, Flask, Django, Next.js, Vite, a Node server or a static site.
  • Python: put dependencies in requirements.txt. Node: commit package.json and package-lock.json.
  • Make sure the app listens on all interfaces (0.0.0.0), not only localhost. Stedhold's start commands already do this for the supported types.
  • Move anything the app writes to disk into a database or storage service; files are not kept between wakes.

Steps

  1. 01

Push the project to a public GitHub repository, or zip the project folder without node_modules, .venv or build folders.

  2. 02

In Stedhold, choose Connect source and enter owner/repo or upload the zip. Stedhold builds it once and shows what it detected.

  3. 03

Under Access, choose Entire workspace or Specific people, and invite the people who need it.

  4. 04

Send them the private link. They sign in by email and the app wakes.

Updating it

Push a new commit and rebuild from the app page. If the new build fails, the old one keeps serving. If the new one works but has a bug, roll back with one click.
